Hoping he will bless me with #1 asked:
I used to work full-time and run a home-based business from home. My clientele consisted of a chiropractor, a real estate agent and an electrical contractor. I would provide administrative and data-entry services to them. I made decent money on the side. But that was 6 years ago. It was hard for me to stay focused then and it is really hard for me to stay focused now. Since getting married 3 years ago, I can’t seem to keep my mind on any one thing. I really have a desire to start a home-based business again, but I just can’t seem to sit down and start marketing the business. I did have two clients, but when they would give me projects it would take me forever to get them done. I would procrastinate and procrastinate and at the very last minute I would do the work and return it.

What seems to be my problem? I have good work ethics at my full-time job. But when it comes to working from home I get frustrated. I really want to do this. What suggestions do you have?

It sounds like you’re fooling yourself. Your full-time work ethic seems good yet you find no real passion to do more. If you really wanted to get the home based business going you’d have already done it.
If what you’re feeling is a desire to only do a home-based business then I’d take the time to find one that really interests you and begin to think of it as a career move from your full-time work today. Whatever you do don’t start something without having a strong desire to do it.
Right now may not be the time for you to work from home. It may just be that now is the time for you to focus on your full time job and whatever else you have going on. Try the work at home thing later or when you are ready to sit down and do what you have to do to market it.
Couldn’t it be caused by distractions at home? maybe set up a room in your house that has an ambiance/environment of an office. This way you are like cheating your brain in to thinking you are still in your office. Be honest, no television in that room. Try it, i work from home too, most of the time. But I cheated, i have a TV in my office.
I am probably one of the biggest procrastinators out there. However, I have started my own home based business with lia sophia (a direct sales jewelry company) and I have found that because I enjoy what I am doing so much and the work is so easy, I get my tasks completed. Plus, if I don’t get my order in by a specific time, I don’t get paid the following week. Part of my motivation is the money that I make. Plus, the company motivates you by giving you incentives to do well. I have made this my career, therefore, I have set goals for myself. This is the other part of my motivation. I am very competitive and I need to do better than other people!!
My suggestion to you is to figure out what motivates you. Maybe you need to find something that is totally different from your day job. What are your goals? Do you want to have a home based business that will become your full time career? I started my business to stay home with my kids. My husband told me I had to make $600 a month. I make 3-5 times that a month. Does money motivate you? Set your goal to what you need or want to earn extra a month. The most important thing you can do is write your goals down. Seeing them everyday will motivate you to complete them.
I hope my advise helps. Good luck!
I know how it is to run a home based business and not have the desire to sell the product. That’s why I got into referal instead on stocking inventory. I got so burned out but now I am happy. Just stick in there if your heart is in it. It not, maybe find another way. Jennifer
Be easy on yourself. Perhaps your life priorities have changed and you did not realize it. Why did you start the home-based business while you were single? Is this “why” still relevant after marriage? Start from there. Perhaps you need to arrange your priorities a little bit.
